The Wedding and Events will take place at Lyford Cay Club &amp; our home in Old Fort Bay. This is the west end of Nassau. We have a block of rooms and cottages reserved at Lyford Cay Club for our guests that include accommodations and guest access for all the amenities - tennis, golf, pool, beach, spa, gym, array of restaurants...etc that Lyford has to offer.To reserve a room, suite or cottage - please contact reservations@lyfordcay.comThe room rates at Lyford start at $680 usd per night.Now, we know that is a large spend and understand many may want to explore alternative accomodation options. There are many lovely airbnb/vrbo opportunities in the vicinity in a vast array of price points. We encourage you to try to stay as close to the west end and near the coast - areas like Old Fort Bay, Love Beach, Cable Beach, Serenity, Venetian...etc. We also encourage you to make bookings soon, as the Tiger Woods Golf Tournament &amp; Hero World Challenge are the same weekend and just around the corner - things are booking up quickly.The closest hotels &amp; resorts would be BahaMar, Breezes, &amp; Goldwynn. There are many other options a bit further out, as well - like Atlantis &amp; Ocean Club. Whichever you choose we would be happy to help with sorting logistics to and from any wedding events, so please let us know. The airport is only about a 5-10 minute drive to Lyford Cay &amp; Old Fort Bay.

This is where the wedding and most surrounding events will take place. Other events in Old Fort Bay are just a golf cart ride away. We encourage guests to book here for convenience and enjoyment. Accommodations include all amenities members enjoy - golf, tennis, beach &amp; pool, restaurants, spa, gym...etc. However, we understand that at a $680+ room rate it may be preferable for some to explore other accommodation options and airbnb/vrbo's. We have compiled a list of attractive short-term rental options, ranging from modest apartments to luxurious full homes with staff that are in the general vicinity of all wedding week events. Please feel free to expand on it and do your own search that may better suit your preferences. We recommend trying to stay at the West End of the Island for ease of transportation and close proximity.

Raiana and Alexander’s story is one of timing, destiny, and the quiet orchestration of fate.&nbsp;Perhaps it can be attributed to the Butterfly Effect, or the Red String Theory…or a beautiful combination of both, as many love stories often are. Though they came from different worlds, she from Canada and he from the Bahamas, their lives were intertwined long before they ever properly met.&nbsp; It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wings in Africa, in just the right way at just the right time, can ultimately cause a hurricane across the world, changing the course of life. For Raiana and Alexander, it did just that. But first, their story begins at a boarding school called Ridley College, a place that had been the backdrop to their young lives and the red string that always connected and conspired to bring them together. The red string theory is an ancient legend that says, “An invisible red string is tied around the ankles or pinky fingers of two people who are destined to meet and love one another. No matter the time, place, or circumstances, this string may stretch or tangle, but it will never break”.&nbsp; Alexander and Raiana didn’t really cross paths as students. They knew of each other, but different grades kept them from properly meeting during the one year they were on the same campus. However, his sister, Amanda, became one of Raiana’s close friends in middle school and that carried through their years there and beyond. They remained only shadows in each other’s stories, passing through the same places and circles but never quite colliding. When Raiana visited Amanda in the Bahamas, she unknowingly slept in Alexander’s room while he was away at university in Miami. Years later, at Amanda’s wedding, they even appeared in the same photograph, though they spoke only briefly amid the whirlwind celebration with Raiana on the island for just a quick 24 hrs. Years passed, and life unfolded in its beautiful, imperfect way. Raiana became a devoted young mother to three beautiful children while selling real estate in Niagara. Alexander built a life filled with travel, hard work and steadfast ambition as he built up his company. It wasn’t until years later, at a Ridley College Homecoming weekend, that fate nudged them closer together. A group dinner in Toronto, where they finally sat across from each other and had a chance to get to know one another. The connection was sparked, and Alexander later inquired with Amanda what Raiana’s circumstances were. Raiana teased Amanda that maybe she would one day be with her brother. However, the timing wasn’t yet theirs, and life had lessons left for them both to learn, to shape &amp; grow them individually.&nbsp; Fate, however, has a way of circling back.&nbsp; In late 2022, another Ridley Homecoming weekend brought them together again. Alexander was meant to return home to the Bahamas from Sweden, but a hurricane in South Florida grounded him in New York. On a whim, he chose to reroute and surprise his sisters at Ridley instead. He even missed the connecting flight, but persevered. Stazzie and Amanda were at Ridley, with Raiana. That weekend, everything aligned. The first moments meeting together again on campus - an immediate quiet knowing, and the later nervous feeling of butterflies. Both drawn to each other quickly, inseparable amongst the crowd, before having to part ways at the end of the evening. Amanda texted Rai from the plane back to the Bahamas the next morning.&nbsp;“My brother won’t stop talking about you.” Thus began several months of gentle effort with simple, sweet daily messages and updates. There was a failed attempt at suggesting they get together, hilariously misinterpreted and awkwardly bypassed by a very guarded Rai. Quickly, though, those charming and wholesome messages became one of the things she looked forward to most every day. She was enamoured by his consistency and strong feeling of dependability, with a heartwarming familiarity growing between them. He thankfully worked up the courage to ask again, and they made a plan to meet in Miami towards the end of winter 2023.&nbsp; Their first date at Casa Tua in Miami, staying long past closing, the two of them lost in conversation, barely touching their meals. From there, a whirlwind long-distance romance between Canada and the Bahamas blossomed into a bond that felt both effortless and extraordinary. Together, they travelled often, meeting in airports around the world. They fell in love quickly and beautifully fit into each other’s families and lives in a way so uniquely theirs. Constant airport pickups and endless FaceTime calls. Both becoming the best version of themselves along the way, with a profound sense of purpose and direction towards each other.&nbsp; In September 2024, on the trip of a lifetime across Africa - a trip Rai had almost exactly laid out on a vision board in 2017 - Alexander got down on one knee, with a custom ring he had one of her close friends create, and asked her to be his wife and his forever. Actually, he didn’t even have to get the words out before she said yes. Maybe it was the tiniest flutter - the same boarding school, subtle coincidences, crossed paths, a missed flight, childhood dreams…perhaps even a butterfly flapping its wings and causing the hurricane, that set the winds in motion. All these small, seemingly insignificant moments scattered across years and oceans create the beginning of their story.&nbsp; A beautiful reminder that sometimes, love doesn’t arrive all at once or when or how you’ve planned, but finds you when it knows you’re ready for each other, shaped by every step and fall that came before, ultimately leading you to your person.
